Hey Guys:
Sorry I haven't updated this page in a while, but marching unit and robotics have been using up my free time. Thanks, Terry for updating over the past month or so. Anyway, I got some emails from Mrs. Stavinga with pictures from the Halloween Party. Click the photos link at the top of the page. Then click on the "2002 Halloween Party" link to view them. Enjoy!

Also, Mr. Bonner has agreed to teach E-prep this fall. Now we'll have something for everyone to do at meetings...

Hey Everyone! School's been starting up, if you haven't noticed, and so I haven't posted in awhile. But today is a jewish holiday, which means I actually have free time. We had a PLC on the 4th of September, and got lots of planning done. First announcement:

FIRST MEETING ON THE 16TH!

That's this wednesday, at St. Dunstans, 7:00-8:15. As for the other announcements:
The neoscouts are almost to the tenderfoot rank. All we have left are physical fitness requirements, safe hiking, first aid, and plant identification. We should been finished this before the end of October. From then on, its finishing up 2nd and 1st class and then merit badges.

We also want to hold a court of honor in either september or december.

The rest of the planning was just rough sceduling for the future. See the calendar for more details.

See you at the first meeting!

Attention philmont people (and other scouts who may go to Philmont in the future):
I called the guy who runs philmont and got some information.
The dates are June 21st to July 5th, 2003. The cost is about $1,400, which includes airfare, the trip itself, rafting, and all meals. The only thing you need to bring is a backpack, which must hold at least 4000 cubic inches, and any other gear.

We are very lucky this year because they have some spots open. 2004 and 2005 are already totally booked! There is limited space this year though, so if we want to stay as a group we can ONLY TAKE 5 PEOPLE. So if you want to go, you need to call or email me ASAP. Be prepared to give a $300 deposit, $100 of which is non-refundable. I'm getting some literature in the mail, which I'll get to the people who are going.

But back to the fun stuff:
Saturday, we fly into Colorado Springs airport. There are supposed to be 120 scouts in two groups going from our council. We ride tour buses around and visit the Garden of the Gods. That weekend, we also visit the air force academy, canyon city, Royal Gorge, AND we go rafting at Echo Canyon. We stay at some abbey place on Saturday and Sunday night. Monday, we show up at Philmont. We split into our crews, so we should be with about 5 other scouts and two adults. He said there were lots of adults already signed up, so I'm not sure if Bob could go. Teusday we set up, wash our clothes, and do a shakedown. Wednesday we start hiking, returning on Saturday.

It sounds like a great trip. Make sure to contact me if you want to go.
